Miles November, 26, is in critical condition with burns all over his body after he burst into flames when he was Tasered by police.

A Virginia man with a history of assaulting cops ended up with burns over 85% of his body when his clothes burst into flames after an officer used a Taser to subdue him during an early Sunday morning DUI arrest, police and his family members say.

Miles November, 26, led officers on a chase after Chesterfield police pulled him over along Jefferson Davis Highway on suspicion of drunken driving. His escape ended with November rolling the car several times. November struggled with officers and firefighters after they rescued him from the wreckage, forcing police to use the stun gun on the man.

But his clothes may have come in contact with gasoline during the crash, police told WWBT-TV, and November went up in flames.

The suspected drunk driver is in critical condition and has burns over 85% of his body, a family member told WTVR-TV.

“He may have a bad reputation, but he is a human being that is loved by many,” an unidentified family member told the TV station. “No one deserves this to happen to them!”

November’s bad reputation stems from previous run-ins with the law, many revolving around driving violations, including drunken driving. He has at least two prior arrests for DWI dating back to 2007. The next year, he was guilty for failing to stop after getting into a crash where someone was injured or killed, and he also assaulted three cops after his second DWI arrest. At the time of that arrest, he had a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit of .08, WTVR reported.

Now, November faces charges of eluding police and driving without a license. More seriously, he appears to be fighting for his life after suffering the severe burns.

The incident remains under investigation.

I should hope it’s under investigation.  The man had problems, for sure.  But he hardly deserved this kind of result.

But then, who does?
